Senior QAT Analyst – Technology and Service Operations Function within the Digital and Technology group.
This is a full‑time, permanent role based at 7/8 Wellington Place, Leeds, LS1 4AP
. MHRA is implementing a flexible, hybrid working model with a minimum of 8 days per month on site, up to 12 days depending on business needs.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enhances and improves the health of millions of people every day through the regulation of medicines and medical devices. The Digital and Technology Group delivers an optimised IT infrastructure and secure use of data to support the Agency’s world‑class services. The Technology & Service Operations function manages the existing IT infrastructure, including database and other technology platforms, and leads the maintenance of applications through outsourced service delivery providers and helps with development, QA and transition to new software and hardware.
Role overview
As a Senior QAT Analyst you will support test engineers and developers to ensure quality and reliability of systems. You will design functional and non‑functional test plans, define testing requirements, estimate test effort using a risk‑based approach and drive test coverage across web, mobile, API, microservice, low‑code, cloud (Azure) and AI‑enabled or data‑driven applications.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute a range of tests, ensuring comprehensive coverage for web, mobile, API, microservice, low‑code, and AI‑enabled or data‑driven applications, and communicate results to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Identify and prioritise defects, assessing business impact and ensuring efficient resolution.
- Mentor and lead junior testers, guiding testing techniques and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan tests, prioritise tasks based on capacity and project needs, and support smooth software delivery.
Qualifications and experience
- Hands‑on experience in functional, regression, UAT or integration testing, including UAT or general software testing.
- Experience testing microservices in the cloud (ideally Azure) and/or low‑code platforms (e.g., Appian); understanding robustness, availability and security implications.
- Proven experience with change management processes and continuous improvement of testing practices.
- Awareness of testing considerations for AI‑enabled or complex data‑driven applications, including data quality, reliability and risk.
- Strong communication skills to present test results to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Technical skills
- Designing and executing test cases for API endpoints, verifying data flows and integration reliability using Postman.
- Proficiency with JIRA, Zephyr, Test Rail and Confluence for test case management, defect tracking and documentation.
- Experience with Agile testing tools and practices.
- Knowledge of automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) and principles – desirable.
- Basic understanding of non‑functional testing and performance bottlenecks – desirable.
- ISTQB certification or equivalent advanced qualifications – highly desirable.
