Overview

Lead Google Cloud Platform Engineer responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable, secure, and developer-friendly public cloud platforms. You will work within a product-aligned, agile engineering team to enable engineering groups across the bank to deliver reliable digital solutions, data platforms, and emerging AI capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Design, engineer and optimise enterprise-scale GCP infrastructure and networking.
  • Develop and review Infrastructure as Code using Terraform / Terraform Cloud.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git Hub, Jenkins and Harness.
  • Develop automation using Python, Bash and/or Groovy.
  • Own cloud services through their full lifecycle (design, build, run, improve).
  • Perform code reviews and help drive engineering quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security and software engineering teams to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Provide BAU operational support, including incident and problem management.
  • Mentor other engineers and support planning and technical decision-making.
What you’ll bring
  • 5+ years’ experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in production environments.
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and supporting cloud networking (VPC, Interconnect, Firewalls, DNS, NAT, IAM, VPC-SC).
  • 3+ years’ experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • 3+ years’ experience with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
  • Experience with Kubernetes / GKE.
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments (Scrum / Kanban, Jira, Confluence).
  • Strong understanding of platform reliability, security and automation.
Nice to have
  • Experience with large-scale or hybrid GCP environments.
  • Experience with policy as code.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace or Google Cloud Monitoring).
  • Google Cloud professional certifications.
Location and schedule

Locations:
Bristol, Leeds, Manchester or Halifax.

Hours:

Full-time. Working pattern:
Hybrid with at least two days per week on-site, with adjustments available under our flexibility policy.
