Associate – Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts

Flint Bishop is seeking an experienced Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts solicitor to join our Leeds office.

This is a full‑time role that reports to the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts (North) and involves managing a significant caseload of complex matters, including high‑value estate administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust matters.
  • Provide general advice to clients on all aspects of the processes.
  • Prepare all types of wills.
  • Deal with high‑value estate administration.
  • Plan for inheritance tax.
  • Advise on risks of death, divorce or bankruptcy in respect of lifetime gifting.
  • Set up and administer trusts.
  • Support more junior team members and supervise work when required.
  • Ensure matters are kept up to date in systems and new advancements are communicated to the relevant team members.
  • Provide ongoing technical support on matters for more junior fee‑earners.
  • Allocate fee‑earning matters appropriately.
  • Record all time in the Tikit system, including non‑billable activities.
  • Contribute to business development efforts for the department and the growth of the York office presence.
  • Support departmental audits as required.
  • Take on additional tasks as reasonably required by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts (North).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive with significant experience running Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust files with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex legal concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
