Clinical Negligence - Associate / Solicitor – Leeds – Up to £70,000

An excellent opportunity to join a specialist healthcare team advising on a broad range of healthcare law matters.

The team works closely with insurer and healthcare clients on complex and evolving matters within a fast-paced sector, offering high-quality, interesting work and the opportunity to develop strong technical expertise. Due to continued growth, the firm is now seeking a Qualified Solicitor to join its Leeds office.

You will assist Partners while also managing your own caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims, ranging in value and complexity from initial notification through to trial.

The Role
  • Managing and assisting on a caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims
  • Liaising with insurer clients, brokers, insureds and witnesses to gather evidence
  • Instructing experts and counsel as appropriate
  • Attending court hearings, conferences and Joint Settlement Meetings
  • Drafting correspondence, reports and case strategies
  • Supporting the supervision and development of junior team members
  • Ensuring compliance with CPR, pre-action protocols, data protection and client SLAs
  • Meeting agreed financial targets, KPIs and quality standards
The Candidate
  • Qualified Solicitor with 1+ years’ PQE (or equivalent litigation experience)
  • Experience in defendant clinical negligence, whether insurer or NHS-related
  • Strong working knowledge of CPR and the Clinical Negligence Pre-Action Protocol
  • Open to candidates looking to transition from defendant large loss or disease litigation
  • Strong analytical and tactical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Commercial, client-focused and solution driven
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Interested in business development, client training and knowledge sharing
