Overview

Why join us? We are seeking a skilled and commercially minded Real Estate lawyer to join our Regeneration, Development and Infrastructure team, focusing on energy and renewable projects. Our Regeneration, Development and Infrastructure team specialises in large scale development, regeneration and infrastructure projects acting for national and local government as well as a number of public private partnerships. We combine vast experience across the many different strands of the Public Sector, working both on behalf of public bodies, quasi-public bodies and institutions, as well as with private sector suppliers and partners that rely on them.

Our team of real estate development lawyers work closely as part of a wider team with colleagues across the business to provide our clients with a full range of legal services in addition to core real estate including grant funding, planning and compulsory purchase, subsidy control, commercial and construction advice. We offer flexibility on location, allowing for the position to be based in any one of our regional offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle or Scotland (dual-qualified) and offer a hybrid working arrangement.

Responsibilities
  • Advising on renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen and heat network schemes.
  • Supporting charge point operators and landowners on EV charging infrastructure, including site acquisition, leasing, planning, regulatory compliance and grid connection.
  • Drafting and negotiating real estate documents for commercial, mixed-use, regeneration and ESG‑linked investment projects.
  • Advising on land due‑diligence, title, access, riparian rights and similar property matters (including specialist areas such as foreshore rights or hydroponic agriculture).
  • Supporting clients with planning, procurement, site assembly, and development structures for infrastructure and sustainable urbanisation projects.
  • Working directly with clients, including energy developers, infrastructure investors, charge point operators, real estate funds and local authorities.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across DWF’s real estate, energy, construction, regulatory and finance teams.
Qualifications
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales and/or Scotland with 2+ years PQE.
  • Strong experience in commercial real estate law, ideally with experience or an interest in the energy or renewables sector.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex transactions and multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams.
