The RoleThe Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining and improving stock accuracy, traceability, and governance for all managed stock within the operation.
YourKey Responsibilities
Stock Accuracy & Reconciliation
- Maintain highly accurate stock records through daily and periodic reconciliations
- Complete managed stock reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly
- Reconcile ERP and WMS systems with external storage provider systems
- Validate part pallets and ensure system data reflects true stock position
- Support cycle counts and audit activity, ensuring compliance and accuracy
- Ensure full traceability of all stock movements across internal and external locations
- Maintain accurate documentation and transaction history for all stock adjustments
- Support compliance with audit, regulatory, and End Use Tax requirements
- Deliver accurate, timely, and transparent stock reporting
- Monitor and analyse aging stock on a daily basis
- Proactively work with teams to prevent write‑offs and manage end‑of‑life stock
- Ensure FEFO/FIFO principles are followed
- Identify slow‑moving or obsolete stock and provide data‑led recommendations
- Support reduction of overall stock levels through improved reporting and visibility
- Monitor and manage blocked stock, ensuring timely resolution
- Recommend actions to improve stock flow, accuracy, and efficiency
- Produce high‑quality reports for Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain teams
- Analyse trends, variances, and risks using advanced Excel skills
- Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Work closely with internal teams, third‑party warehouses, and commercial functions
- Communicate stock risks, issues, and required actions clearly
- Act as a key point of contact for stock‑related queries across the site
Key Behavioural Competencies
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis, trend analysis)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confident working with ERP and WMS systems
- Ability to work independently within a shift‑based environment
- Proactive and solutions‑focused approach
- Experience with in stock control, supply chain, or planning environments
- Understanding of warehouse operations and stock management processes
