School Caretaker - Part Time

Empowering Learning are suuporting a primary school in Otley Leeds who are looking for a part time Caretaker.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hardworking School Caretaker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

The position involves carrying out day-to-day site maintenance, security checks, and general caretaking duties to ensure the school premises are well maintained and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and/or locking the school premises as required.
Conducting regular security and safety checks of buildings and grounds.
Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
Monitoring and maintaining heating, lighting, and other building systems.
Ensuring the school site is clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
Supporting contractors and service providers working on site.
Assisting with room setups for school events and activities.
Reporting maintenance issues and health and safety concerns promptly.
Supporting emergency procedures when required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management experience.
Good practical skills and the ability to undertake minor repairs.
A strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
The ability to work independently and use initiative.
A flexible and positive approach to work.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff, pupils, and visitors.
