Ready to take ownership of complex plant maintenance in a fast-paced industrial site? We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join a high-performing engineering team at a busy asphalt plant in Cross Green, Leeds. If you thrive on fault-finding, keeping heavy plant running, and making a real impact on production performance, this role is for you.
Hours & Shift Pattern48 hours per week – 06:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday, with some nights and weekend work and overtime.
Location & CommuteThis role is commutable from Leeds, Rothwell, Oulton, Garforth, Wetherby, Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities- Lead planned and reactive mechanical maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Diagnose faults across conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, crushers and screening equipment.
- Carry out breakdown repairs quickly and safely to keep production on track.
- Support continuous improvement and root-cause analysis.
- Undertake welding and fabrication work to a strong standard.
- Own small projects and improve plant reliability.
- Work with contractors and suppliers on-site.
- Use CMMS systems to record maintenance activity.
- Champion Health & Safety and safe working practices at all times.
- Experience with in heavy industry, plant or manufacturing environments.
- Strong skills in fault finding and mechanical repairs.
- Confidence working on bearings, drives and rotating equipment.
- Welding and fabrication capability.
- Comfortable using maintenance systems and basic IT tools.
- A proactive mindset with a strong focus on safety and performance.
- Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship (preferred).
- ONC/HNC (advantageous).
