Maintenance Team Leader – Leeds
£49,086 per annum | Full-time | Rotating Shifts
Cubed Talent is recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Team Leader to join a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business in Leeds.

You’ll take a key leadership role within the engineering and facilities function, leading a skilled maintenance team and helping ensure plant, equipment and facilities operate safely, reliably and efficiently.
The Role
As Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities, balancing reactive requirements with preventative and proactive maintenance.
You’ll lead and develop a team of engineers, promote a strong safety culture and use maintenance data to identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime and maximise OEE.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading, coaching and developing a team of maintenance engineers.
* Coordinating maintenance activities through a CMMS, ensuring work orders and maintenance records are accurately completed.
* Supporting reactive, corrective and preventative maintenance activities.
* Maintaining high standards of health, safety, compliance and engineering workmanship.
* Ensuring safe systems of work are followed, including LOTO, permits to work, confined spaces and COSHH.
* Supporting breakdown response and prioritising engineering activity according to production requirements.
* Analysing equipment trends and breakdown data to identify root causes and prevent repeat failures.
* Working closely with Production and other departments to improve machine performance and reliability.
* Developing troubleshooting guides and standardised maintenance practices.
* Supporting critical spares management and ensuring appropriate stock levels.
* Maintaining high standards of workshop organisation, housekeeping and equipment care.
* Managing training, competency and skills development within the maintenance team.
* Ensuring effective communication and handovers between shifts.
* Supporting continuous improvement and the development of a proactive maintenance culture.
* Participating in the engineering on-call rota and arranging appropriate out-of-hours engineering cover.
About You
We’re looking for a confident and hands-on engineering leader who can combine strong technical knowledge with excellent people-management skills.
You’ll ideally have:
* An engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
* Significant experience within engineering, maintenance or manufacturing.
* Previous experience leading an engineering or maintenance team in a technical manufacturing environment.
* Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, with experience across areas such as pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems.
* Experience of preventative, predictive, corrective and reactive maintenance.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
* Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
* A strong understanding of engineering health & safety legislation and compliance.
* Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem solving
Knowledge of areas such as PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, DSEAR, ATEX, confined spaces, working at height and electrical safety would be highly advantageous.
