If so, Randstad Education wants to hear from you! We are currently recruiting a dedicated Facilities Manager to oversee premises and operations for a highly respected specialist school based in South Leeds, starting ASAP for the full academic year.
About the SchoolThey are an outstanding Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) dedicated to providing exemplary education and care for pupils aged 2 to 19 with a broad spectrum of complex special educational needs. Operating across modern, purpose-built facilities, they pride themselves on maintaining a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment where pupils and staff thrive. Supported by a collaborative leadership team, the school places high value on well-maintained premises to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
Aboutthe Role
This is a full-time, long-term cover role (37 hours per week, all-year-round) starting ASAP for the full academic year, with a strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent contract for the right candidate.
Taking day-to-day responsibility for premises, facilities, and Health & Safety across school sites, key duties include:
- Acting as the lead point of contact for all site, premises, and Health & Safety matters.
- Managing statutory H&S compliance, fire safety, security, and routine site inspections.
- Overseeing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), general building repairs, and grounds upkeep.
- Managing external contractors, service contracts, maintenance budgets, and cleaning teams.
- Supervising caretaking staff and overseeing the maintenance and compliance of school vehicles.
- Responding promptly to urgent site issues or emergency maintenance requirements.
- Proven experience in facilities management, site management, or estates leadership (preferably within an educational or public sector setting).
- Sound practical knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, COSHH, fire safety, and statutory compliance.
- Strong organisational skills with the confidence to work independently and prioritise a busy, reactive workload.
- Experience in managing contractors, negotiating service agreements, and overseeing site budgets.
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, solution-focused approach to unexpected site challenges.
- Prior experience in premises or facilities management within the UK.
- An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad).
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (please note, visa sponsorship is not available for this role).
