Join Equans, a leading energies and services contractor and a proud member of the global Gouygues group. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Technical Services Manager within our Embedded Generation business.
Equans Embedded Generation operates multiple customer sites across the UK, managing onsite generation for industrial processes and grid export. We deliver design, build, operate, and maintain services for combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy-from-waste technologies. Our expertise helps industrial businesses achieve carbon reduction goals while ensuring safety, reliability, and energy security.
Role OverviewThe Technical Services Manager (TSM) reports to the Operations Manager and will line‑manage the on‑site maintenance team (maximum 6 technicians). Acting as a deputy for the Operations Manager, the TSM will ensure plant compliance with statutory and industry requirements, maintain a comprehensive CAFM system, and support audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain plant safety, environmental, and statutory compliance (BG01/BG04, HTMs, SFG
20, etc.). - Ensure plant performance, availability, and reliability.
- Manage legislative maintenance activities, including PSSR inspections, functional safety tests, legionella control, and statutory routine programming.
- Apply safe systems of work correctly.
- Plan, organise and supervise maintenance activities using CAFM.
- Day‑to‑day management of on‑site technicians.
- Lead technicians for maintenance, project work, and outage preparation.
- Compile and manage site maintenance records in an electronic system.
- Support documentation and procedure development with the Operations Manager.
- Act in the escalation chain for safety and emergency response in line with Equans policies.
- Liaise with internal and external customers.
- Procure spares and consumables within budget.
- Demonstrate behaviours and standards outlined in Equans fundamentals.
- Measure performance on health & safety, O&M excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as line manager for technicians and site administrator.
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Industrial Steam Boiler operations and maintenance experience (BOAS desirable).
- NEBOSH certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or similar safety qualification (desirable).
- Experience in operation & maintenance of utility plant including generation equipment.
- Leadership skills balancing financial, technical, and people priorities.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Flexible and proactive approach, influencing others.

- Excellent IT skills and experience with management systems.
