We are seeking a highly experienced, qualified actuary to lead a UK insurer’s Risk function, providing independent oversight across financial and operational risk. This is a senior leadership role with direct exposure to the executive team and Risk Committee – a rare opportunity to shape the risk agenda at an ambitious, growth-focused company.

• Lead the entire risk function, ensuring financial and operational risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and controlled.
• Provide independent challenge to first line teams, without being hands-on in modelling.
• Oversee Internal Model governance, ORSA, capital assessment methodologies, and enterprise-wide risk oversight.
• Report to the CRO and sit on the Risk Committee and senior management forums.
• Lead, develop, and inspire a team of risk professionals, bridging both financial and operational disciplines.

• Qualified actuary with significant financial risk and internal model experience.
• Strong governance, validation, and board-level reporting experience.
• Proven ability to challenge senior stakeholders and drive risk culture.
• Excellent people management and leadership skills.
• Exposure to operational risk oversight is desirable; deep technical experience in this area not required.
• Ideally Life background but Non-Life also considered
