Overview
To contribute to delivering an excellent heritage visitor attraction through the supervision of staff, budgets, operational activities, services, assets and infrastructure in line with service objectives and management plans. This role will lead on the development, management and delivery of the historic gardens and grounds and their use for public access and events.
Responsibilities- Lead the supervision and continued development of the historic gardens and grounds in line with the Strategy and to assist in the continuing development of management and development plans.
- Encourage public access and volunteer involvement; promote the site through activities, events and positive visitor experiences; participate in consultation and monitoring of feedback to enable continual improvement.
- Provide on‑site support to external organisers of events and activities and ensure that health and safety and legal requirements are met.
- Undertake team supervision, ensuring staff are well briefed and trained, issues are tackled immediately, impact is monitored and learning implemented.
- Effectively manage all resources to maximise efficiency; motivate and develop the gardens and grounds team to deliver a commercial approach to the running of the visitor attraction.
- Supervise supplier and contractor relationships and monitor performance, ensuring goods and services conform to contract requirements.
- Ensure procurement of goods and services is in accordance with financial regulations, corporate policy and legal requirements.
- Represent the Climate Energy and Green spaces service at all appropriate internal and external meetings.
- Assist with recruitment, retention and development of staff, ensuring maximum productivity; assist with training, skills development, training provision and timely completion of appraisals.
- Deliver the internal communications strategy, keeping all staff informed of key messages and site developments.
- Assist with health, safety and security; ensure regular checks and up‑to‑date paperwork, adhere to current health and safety guidelines and handle emergency situations in line with policy.
- Willing to take personal responsibility and abide by the Council's Health and Safety Policy.
