As a Facilities Manager, you’ll play a key part in delivering safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environments that support our students’ success across a cluster of (number) properties. You’ll work closely with maintenance and housekeeping teams, the General Manager, and the Central Estates Function, making a real impact every day. Whether it’s urgent repairs, compliance checks, or supporting student events, you’ll apply your facilities expertise, team leadership, and problem-solving skills to keep our communities running smoothly and help students feel truly at home.
Your impactWhilst no two days are ever the same at Unite Students, here’s a flavour of what you’ll be responsible for:
- Lead and develop the Facilities and Housekeeping teams, ensuring effective recruitment, retention, and performance management.
- Oversee the delivery of maintenance, safety, and compliance programs, ensuring properties meet all statutory and safety standards.
- Ensure rapid response to issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage budgets, property projects, and future capital expenditure to deliver services on time and within budget.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, security, and external presentation of all properties.
- Support the implementation of health and safety policies, ensuring all assessments, testing, and reporting are completed on schedule.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver an excellent and safe resident experience.
- Promote sustainability initiatives and encourage the team to contribute to achieving environmental targets.

We’re looking for a Facilities Manager who is energised by making a difference and confident leading from the front. To be successful in this role you’ll bring:
- Strong people management experience with proven ability to lead and develop diverse, multi-site teams
- Experience in facilities management with a strong grasp of maintenance operations
- Sound understanding of compliance and health and safety management systems
- Technical knowledge of M&E operations and CAFM systems
- A practical approach to problem-solving and innovation, encouraging your team to challenge the ordinary and stay on point every day
- Professional qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH are essential, with IWFM membership or a degree in Facilities Management desirable.
