Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Capital Delivery Programme Manager to join our Asset Delivery Team and help improve the environment in Yorkshire.
What we doWe provide essential water and wastewater services to 5.4 million residents and tourists in Yorkshire, ensuring clean drinking water and effective wastewater management while protecting the environment and supporting community wellbeing.
With new environmental legislation, increasing investment and evolving customer expectations, the Asset Investment team plays a key role in meeting these challenges.
Where you fit inAs our Capital Delivery Programme Manager
, you will:
- Lead a programme of work and be a visible leader on the Programme Delivery Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure successful programme delivery.
- Engage proactively with operations teams to drive visibility and support.
- Handle project escalations and provide innovative solutions.
- Lead and inspire a team of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
- Understand AMP8 delivery requirements including performance commitments, price control deliverables and business plan targets.
- Communicate effectively with senior leaders and the Board, including writing papers and presenting information.
- Drive improvements by sharing industry best practices.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate a can‑do attitude and passion for excellence.
- Be focused, driven and able to thrive in a challenging environment.
- Have experience leading complex construction projects in a live operational environment.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of sustainable performance against business targets.
- Possess excellent people skills, with coaching and mentoring experience.
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to foster a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven budget management and financial performance skills.
- Strong commercial understanding, particularly of NEC contracts.
- Experience in risk management, governance and assurance policies.
- Knowledge of construction processes, civil engineering or mechanical/electrical disciplines.
- Commitment to Yorkshire Water’s values and behaviours, with relentless drive and determination.
- Detailed knowledge of programme and project life cycles and ability to coach team members.
- Proven ability to engage customers internally and externally to understand needs and recognise opportunities.
- Proven track record of leading a team and influencing delivery of high‑quality outputs.
- In‑depth understanding of capital regulations and financial processes associated with programme and project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of complex information.
- Highly motivated and self‑reliant with a drive for continuous development.
- Proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities and influence at all levels.
- High standards of integrity and ethics.
- Knowledge and experience of wastewater treatment.
- Leadership experience in a commercially oriented or regulated environment.

- A recognised qualification in project/programme management.
