You'll take ownership of major projects from bid phase through to delivery and in-service support, while building strong customer relationships and driving successful commercial outcomes.
The Role As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of complex, multi-million-pound programmes throughout the full project lifecycle. You'll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards, while managing risks, stakeholders and commercial performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading complex bids, programmes and projects from concept through to completion. Managing project budgets, schedules, quality, risks and commercial performance. Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders. Building and maintaining strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for future business. Leading multidisciplinary project teams, providing clear direction and fostering a collaborative culture. Developing robust project plans and ensuring effective governance throughout delivery.
Managing project risks, opportunities and issues to achieve successful outcomes. Driving continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and improving delivery processes. Supporting business development activities, including leading high-value proposal submissions. Mentoring project team members and contributing to the wider project management capability across the business. About You We're looking for an experienced project management professional with a strong background in delivering complex engineering programmes.
You'll ideally have:
Significant experience managing complex, fixed-price engineering or systems integration projects valued at several million pounds.
Experience with in the defence, maritime, aerospace or another highly regulated engineering environment. Strong expertise in project planning, risk and opportunity management, budgeting and commercial delivery. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams. Knowledge of earned value management, supplier management and subcontractor oversight. Strong working knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project and risk management software.
A recognised Project Management qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent), with chartered status or progression towards professional registration being highly desirable.
