Solution Lead (Defence)

Location: Hybrid (UK) – Attached to Hook/ Solihull/ London with flexibility to travel to Hook.

Type: Permanent – Full Time

We’re looking for a Solution Lead to help shape and win some of the most unique and complex programmes in the UK defence sector. It is a role for someone who can design whole‑service delivery models end‑to‑end, integrating people, processes, assets, technology, facilities, training, supply chain partners and commercial structures into cohesive, efficient and deliverable solutions. You’ll work closely with the Bid Director, Commercial Lead and Growth Director to develop innovative, costed solutions that align to customer needs, and collaborate with SMEs across defence, logistics, training and asset management to bring them to life.

• Develop end‑to‑end delivery solutions for competitive bids and transformation programmes.
• Understand customers’ objectives, operational drivers and challenges.
• Lead cross‑functional work streams, aligning operations, commercial, technical and delivery inputs into a single coherent solution.
• Design scalable models using the right blend of workforce, training, assets, technology, process and supply chain capability.
• Shape costs with commercial teams, ensuring pricing aligns with customer affordability.
• Work with bid writers to translate complex ideas into a compelling bid narrative.
• Identify risks, assumptions, opportunities and mitigations across solution components.
• Support transition and transformation planning and offer insight to active contracts where required.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• Experience developing or contributing to complex delivery solutions – preferably in defence.
• Ability to integrate people, capability, assets and process into deliverable models.
• Strong stakeholder influence – internal, client‑side and technical.
• Skilled in shaping solutions collaboratively with SMEs and operational teams.
• High‑quality communication – able to turn complexity into clarity.

• Experience with designing defence training solutions.
• Bid or competitive tendering exposure.
• Understanding of defence capability domains (Land, Maritime, Air).
• MRO/asset management/maintenance programme experience.
• Programme or architecture qualifications (MSP, ITIL, TOGAF, etc.).

• Work on flagship defence programmes with national impact.
• Shape solutions that meaningfully enhance capability and readiness.
• Collaborate with senior leaders and technical specialists across Serco and the wider sector.
