PC Men’s Innovation Senior Formulation Design Assistant Manager
LocationLeeds R&D, UK
Job PurposeThe Deodorants category is a key part of the Unilever Personal Care Business Group, with a family of Power Brands (Dove, Lynx & Rexona). This role focuses on delivering the Men’s Deodorant Innovation programme for Lynx and Dove Men + Care International by leading the formulation workstream and supporting innovation project delivery across multiple projects.
Main Accountabilities (Responsibilities)- Lead the formulation work‑stream on multiple projects to deliver safe, compatible products that meet consumer and brand requirements.
- Ensure technical testing, structuring, capturing and interpreting data for formulation changes.
- Support Technical Project Leaders on cross‑functional project management.
- Deputise when required, ensuring project support and communication to Business Units and partners.
- Coordinate creation of technical documentation, gathering cross‑functional and regional input.
- Identify and highlight project risks to stakeholders and the project team.
- Input formulation and R&D information into decision‑gate documents, ensuring regulatory and endorsement support.
- Use digital approaches, dashboards and AI to structure, connect and analyse data, driving greater efficiency.
- Encourage digital‑first practices and methodologies across the team.
- Identify opportunities for portfolio simplification and cost efficiency.
- Lead, train and coach Formulation Technicians, delegating laboratory work as needed.
- Maintain high laboratory housekeeping and safety standards.
- Provide technical support to colleagues and champion new product mixes aligned with consumer needs.
- Proven experience in formulation chemistry with deep understanding of ingredients, formats and benefit technologies.
- Ability to modify and manipulate formulations while ensuring product safety.
- Knowledge of digital and data management practices.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make evidence‑based recommendations.
- Deep understanding of Unilever’s and key competitors’ global product portfolios.
- Basic intellectual property knowledge.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
