Shantona Women’s and Family Services supports women, families, and young people through advocacy, practical help, and community programs. We aim to inspire women, strengthen families, and build resilient communities, promoting safety, stability, and wellbeing.
What difference will you make?Responding to this opportunity will strengthen Shantona’s Board by adding financial expertise and strategic insight, enabling the Board to manage resources more effectively and meet the needs of our beneficiaries. A Treasurer will bring additional capacity, fresh perspectives, and specialist skills in finance and governance, helping the organisation become more sustainable and resilient in the long term. Their contribution will also support innovation, ensure accountability, and enhance the Board’s ability to make informed decisions, keeping Shantona responsive to the evolving needs of the women, families, and communities we serve.
Whatare we looking for?
We welcome people from all expertise but preferably who have previous experience on being on a board of trustees. Some of the skills, talents and experience which we feel are vital for our trustees to fulfil their roles to help move the organisation forward are:

- Producing policies including an understanding of current legislation around safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and Safety

- Knowledge of Local and National policies such as GDPR, Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding
- Working as a team
- Chairing meetings
- Legal knowledge
- Understanding of Charity and companies law

We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. As Treasurer, you will provide financial leadership and oversight, ensuring Shantona’s resources are managed responsibly, and support the Board in making informed decisions to achieve our mission.
- Leading financial management and reporting
- Monitoring budgets, cash flow, and expenditure
- Ensuring compliance with charity legislation and governance requirements
- Presenting financial updates to the Board
- Supporting income generation and sustainability planning
- Experience in finance, accounting, or business management
- Understanding of charity governance and financial compliance
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Insight into issues faced by disadvantaged and BAME communities (including young people) is highly desirable
- Six Board meetings per year (currently Tuesdays 5–7 pm) plus annual trustee/staff away day
- Participation in small task groups and key organisational activities
- Travel and out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed
