Job Description

Do you care about creativity, community and culture in Leeds?

Would you like to help shape the future of Left Bank Leeds?

We’re looking for new voluntary board members to join both our Charity Board and CIC Board–no previous Board experience is needed.

Twenty years ago, the former St Margaret of Antioch church reopened as Left Bank Leeds. Since then, Left Bank has become a much‑loved creative and community space for Leeds.

As we look to the future, we’re excited to welcome new people with fresh ideas, lived experience, skills and perspectives to help guide the next chapter of Left Bank’s journey.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Care about community, creativity and wellbeing
  • Want to support a unique Leeds organisation
  • Have financial skills, experience or ideas to share
  • Are interested in strategy, governance, community impact or organisational development
  • Want to learn more about being a trustee or director

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and identities–young & old (age 16+). No previous governance experience needed.

You do not need any previous experience of being on a board as our induction process will identify any training needs you may have, and signpost you to relevant training if needed.

  • Work collaboratively and communicate respectfully with fellow board members, staff and users of the building
  • Use skills, knowledge and contacts for Left Bank Leeds’s benefit
  • Have (or have interest in learning) a basic level of financial literacy
  • Support the Charity’s object to advance the Christian faith, while welcoming people of all beliefs and backgrounds (even if you are personally of a different faith/non‑faith)
  • Have an interest in the creative arts, and promoting the arts for public benefit
  • Have a connection to communities in Leeds and Yorkshire (or interest in building connection)
  • Prepared to assist fundraising through bid writing and/or personal introduction and influence
  • A willingness to undertake training in areas where this would be useful for the role
  • Uphold the legal duties of Trustees and/or CIC Directors as per Charity Commission and/or Companies House guidelines
  • Commit sufficient time to meetings and preparation
  • For CIC board–a monthly 2 hr evening meeting + prep and follow up tasks
  • For Charity Board–a 2 hr evening meeting every 3 months, with occasional additional sub‑group mtgs
  • For both–some additional onboarding and training as part of the induction process
