You will ensure safe, effective recovery for patients emerging from anaesthesia in close collaboration with anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre staff, patient flow coordinators and ward teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality, compassionate postoperative care to a diverse range of surgical patients.
  • Monitor and assess patients recovering from anaesthesia, ensuring safe airway management, effective pain control and timely escalation of concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support smooth and safe patient journeys.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑organised PACU environment, adapting to changing clinical demands.
  • Support the implementation of evidence‑based practice and uphold the unit’s philosophy of patient‑centred, safe care.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, building skills and confidence to progress within the PACU team.
  • Provide support and guidance to colleagues, including students and unregistered staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to all clinical, professional and organisational standards.
  • Act as a professional role model, demonstrating excellent communication, teamwork and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1 or
    2) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Current UK NMC registration with evidence of clinical practice in the UK, or be a final‑year nursing student studying in the UK.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Understanding of current issues in health care.
  • Knowledge of the principles of patient‑centred care.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, multi‑specialty environment is an advantage.
