Deputy Head of Nursing – Leeds Children's Hospital
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to appoint a second Deputy Head of Nursing for Leeds Children's Hospital and to join a forward‑thinking, dynamic deputy triumvirate leadership team. We are looking for a compassionate, innovative, and forward‑thinking nurse leader with ambition and drive to develop our workforce of over 1,000 nurses and clinical support workers. You will have a proven track record of successfully managing and leading nursing teams across a diverse range of services and for delivering high standards of quality care.
Your commitment to providing the best possible experience for children, young people and their families will be at the core of all that you do, contributing to our mission to improve the health and well‑being of those we serve.
You will be managerially and professionally accountable to the Head of Nursing and responsible for the leadership and management of the designated specialties within your Deputy Head portfolio across the Children’s Hospital. This includes line‑management responsibilities of registered and unregistered staff and the management of specific clinical services/areas. You will support the Head of Nursing for all issues relating to nursing within the hospital and be an integral part of the Senior Nursing leadership team.
You will establish and foster effective working relationships with the Children’s Hospital Triumvirate team and lead improvements in nursing, service delivery and the achievement of organisational priorities. You will hold a portfolio across either Nurse Education or Nursing Workforce and deputise for the Head of Nursing. You will engage with partners outside the organisation and be responsible for the delivery of safe, clinically effective and compassionate nursing care, providing assurance evidence to senior leaders.
