Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Sister / Charge Nurse to join the team on L19, a cardiology admission ward. The role is part‑time, 30 hours per week, and requires working as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining high clinical standards, supporting staff shift‑by‑shift, and making difficult decisions in a busy ward environment.

Main Duties
  • Coordinate the ward and support the Senior Staff in delivering the highest quality care.
  • Provide clinical, managerial and leadership support for the nursing team.
  • Assist with administrative and financial aspects of the ward, ensuring cost‑effective use of resources.
  • Advocate for patients and colleagues, escalating concerns when necessary.
  • Lead and develop team members, promoting a patient‑centred, safe and compassionate care environment.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN Adult or RN Child (Level 1 or
    2)).
  • Post‑registration qualification related to cardiac surgery or cardiology (e.g., ECG course, deteriorating patients knowledge, diabetes management, infection prevention).
  • Significant post‑registration experience at staff nurse level or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current issues in health and social care knowledge.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
  • Mental health / wellbeing experience or training.
  • Leadership skills courses.
  • Cardiothoracic or cardiology course.
  • Clinical experience within cardiology.
  • Skills and knowledge to lead and develop team members.
Person Specification
  • Ability to be an advocate for patients and colleagues.
  • Competency and experience in coordinating the ward.
  • Ability to embrace change and work flexibly.
  • Strong decision‑making and challenging conversation skills.
