Professional development Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust for a Professional Development Practitioner to join the Perioperative Education Team within the Theatres and Anaesthesia Clinical Service Unit. The role supports the delivery of high‑quality, safe patient care through the development of a skilled, competent, and confident workforce.

• Lead perioperative education and workforce development across Theatres, Anaesthesia and PACU.
• Line manage and support the Perioperative Education Team.
• Deliver training, competency programmes and simulation‑based education.
• Support Nursing and ODP students, apprentices and newly qualified staff.
• Respond to patient safety incidents and embed learning into practice.
• Promote quality improvement, patient safety and evidence‑based care.
• Work with clinical teams to identify and meet learning and development needs.
• Support education and professional development across all staff groups, building workforce capability and embedding a culture of continuous learning.

• Registered Nurse / ODP (RN Adult for adult clinical areas or RN Child for children’s areas).
• Recognised teaching/assessing qualification, Master’s degree or postgraduate level development equivalent to a Master’s.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Willing to undergo additional training as necessary.

• Clinical experience within the specialty.
• Standards of professional practice, significant experience in a junior leadership role (Band 6 or equivalent).
• Experience working with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing and management colleagues.
