Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join a supportive, experienced small team. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and be able to provide advice, support and information from the time of the diagnosis of a skin cancer and throughout the patient’s care pathway, both in clinic and via telephone.

As a member of the skin cancer CNS team, you will:

• liaise with the Leeds Cancer Centre and record holistic needs assessments and other stipulated assessments of cancer patients;
• work as an integral part of a busy multidisciplinary team and independently use your own initiative;
• support skin cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy or immunotherapy treatments;
• see and assess skin‑cancer patients in fast‑track clinics for diagnosis and follow‑up under consultant supervision;
• conduct telephone consultations for patients scheduled for surgery for suspected skin cancers;
• manage histopathology results of these patients with consultant support when required.

• Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist level qualification;
• Excellent organisational and communication skills;
• Prior experience with skin‑cancer patients, dermatology or oncology is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.

• Experience in a multidisciplinary oncology setting is desirable;
• Experience in fast‑track skin‑cancer clinics is desirable.
