Job Summary

We are excited to offer an experienced registered nurse the opportunity to develop in a leadership role on our adult oncology ward (J97) with 24 beds. The ward delivers chemotherapy and other anti‑cancer treatments with high standards of care. In partnership with the senior sister, the successful candidate will support patients, families, the multidisciplinary team and drive a personalised patient experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the senior sister with 24‑hour continuing responsibility for effective and efficient management of the ward.
  • Provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing team.
  • Help develop and maintain a ward philosophy that places the patient at the centre of compassionate, safe and quality care delivery.
  • Support the administrative and financial management of the ward, promoting cost‑effective use of resources.
  • Coordinate ward activities, ensuring effective communication at all times and providing support to qualified and unqualified nurses.
  • Assess patient care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
  • Act as a role model, promote evidence‑based practice, develop the nursing team and ensure effective ward management in the absence of the senior sister.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities, motivate team members, support change management and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commit to professional development and the development of the team.
  • Participate in a structured development programme to advance leadership and management skills.
