The Jobholder will carry 24 hour continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the ward/department. They will provide professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing team. The jobholder is responsible for developing and maintaining a ward or departments philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate safe and quality care delivery. Through managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward, the jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
The role will be 70% non-clinical management and 30% clinical management. The job holder will manage the administrative and financial aspects of the ward and will ensure cost effective use of resources and deployment of staff. Current services comprise of the day surgery unit with overnight cover on Mondays and the management/service delivery of the Day Treatment Unit. The role requires direct management of approximately 25.65 whole time equivalent staff both registered and unregistered.
The jobholder is responsible for the department clinical budget.

Wharfedale Ward One provide pre and post-operative care to surgical patients, including day case, overnight stays and ward attenders.
The ward offers a wide variety of specialities as part of the day surgery unit consisting of 4 theatres and the day treatment centre; specialities include ophthalmics, colorectal, urology, pain, haematology, plastics/maxillofacial, gynaecology, breast and ENT. As a team leader you will continue to maintain clinical practice and there may be a requirement for weekend working and night duty if needed.
The successful applicant will have line managerial responsibilities for the multidisciplinary staff within the Perioperative team. We, This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced peri-operative practitioner to lead a dedicated theatre team and support the delivery of high-quality patient care. You will work closely with the Matron to manage staffing, capacity and resources, ensuring the safe and efficient running of the department.
Using your leadership, communication and organisational skills, you will support staff development, drive service improvement and contribute to outstanding patient outcomes within a busy and dynamic theatre environment.
