Band 5 Principal Dental Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Registered Dental Nurse to join the Maxillofacial Unit as a Band 5 Principal Dental Nurse.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality specialist dental nursing care while supporting the day-to-day leadership, coordination and effective running of the department. Working closely with the Lead Dental Nurse and multidisciplinary team, the postholder will provide professional leadership and supervision to dental nursing staff, support staff development, coordinate clinical activity and resources, and promote consistently high standards of patient care, safety and professional practice.

The Band 5 Principal Dental Nurse will provide specialist dental nursing support while contributing to the day-to-day leadership and effective operational management of the Maxillofacial Unit.

The postholder will:

• Provide high-quality specialist dental nursing care across Restorative Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), including Day Surgery and Theatre environments where required.
• Support the Lead Dental Nurse with the day-to-day management, organisation and delivery of the dental nursing service.
• Provide leadership, supervision and professional support to Registered Dental Nurses, trainee dental nurses and other members of the dental nursing team.
• Participate in a structured rotational management arrangement with other Principal Dental Nurses, taking turns to provide day-to-day leadership and management across the clinical disciplines within the department.
• Maintain and develop clinical knowledge, practical competence and operational understanding across the specialties to support safe and effective rotational management.
• Support the coordination of staffing, rotas and daily deployment, responding appropriately to changing clinical activity and service pressures.
• Promote high standards of patient care, infection prevention and control, clinical governance, safeguarding and compliance with GDC professional standards and Trust policies.

• At Least 2 years proven experience in management and leadership role, with responsibility for leading teams, managing staff, and supporting service delivery
