Base Pay RangeNature Recovery Ranger (Multiple Roles)
Salary: £24,720 per annum for 0.8 FTE (4 days per week)
Full-time equivalent: £30,900 per annum
London weighting: £3,708 (£4,635 FTE)
Contract: Fixed‑term until 31 March 2028
ResponsibilitiesCommunity Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with NHS staff, patients, carers, volunteers and local community groups
- Design and lead inclusive outdoor activities such as nature walks, planting days and wildlife workshops
- Support volunteers to participate safely, confidently and meaningfully
Green Space Enhancement
- Deliver practical conservation work including tree planting, meadow creation, food growing and habitat installation
- Maintain and enhance therapeutic gardens, walking routes and biodiversity features
- Carry out biodiversity surveys and share findings with partners
Project Delivery and Safety
- Co‑design activity programmes with NHS partners
- Manage tools, materials and safe working practices
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure accessibility for all participants
- Support funding applications where required
Communication and Impact
- Capture stories, images and outcomes to demonstrate programme impact
- Attend meetings and events to represent the programme
- Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements
London weighting: £5,407.50
Contract: Fixed‑term until 31 March 2028
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide line management and day‑to‑day leadership for Nature Recovery Rangers
- Coordinate ranger activity across multiple NHS Trust sites
- Oversee reporting and work with external consultants
- Lead funding bids and identify new programme opportunities
- Support strategic planning and programme development
Community Engagement and Inclusion
- Experience designing and delivering inclusive, community‑based activities
- Commitment to working with marginalised or under‑represented groups
Nature and Conservation
- Knowledge of urban wildlife, conservation and habitat management
- Practical experience in gardening, food growing or conservation tasks
- Safe use of hand tools and basic machinery (training available if required)
Practical and Personal Skills
- Confidence leading hands‑on outdoor activities
- Understanding of health and safety requirements
- Self‑motivated, creative and comfortable working independently
- Ability to work sensitively in healthcare and emotionally complex environments
Additional Criteria (Senior Role)
- Experience leading or coordinating dispersed teams
- Strong skills in monitoring, reporting and funding applications
Roles are based at NHS sites in one of the following areas:
- Manchester
- Stockport / Tameside / Glossop
- Bradford
- London
