We are seeking a residency-trained, board-certified (ECVS/ACVS) or board-eligible Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing specialist-led team at Swift Referrals in Wetherby. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative multidisciplinary referral hospital with a strong reputation for clinical excellence across Northern and Central England.
Swift Referrals is a multidisciplinary small animal referral practice offering services in internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, and neurology, alongside a first opinion out-of-hours service for neighbouring practices.
At Inspiring Vet Care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we’re trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
About the Role & PracticeWe are looking for a Surgeon to support our growing referral caseload across soft tissue, neurology and orthopaedic surgery. Whilst experience across multiple disciplines would be welcomed, we would also be happy to consider candidates with a preference or advanced expertise in one of these areas.
This role would ideally suit a Diplomate or residency-trained clinician, although applications from experienced Certificate holders with significant referral experience will also be considered.
Working alongside our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with experienced surgeons, internal medicine clinicians and our ECC clinician to deliver outstanding patient care. Our varied referral caseload provides exposure to a wide range of complex surgical procedures across multiple disciplines in a supportive, specialist-led environment.
Participation in both in-house and external CPD is strongly encouraged, with opportunities to develop your clinical interests as our referral services continue to expand.
A 4-day working week (10-hour shifts, 8am–6pm) offers a strong work-life balance, alongside participation in a shared on-call rota currently structured as 1 in 3 weekends. Evening on-call is minimal and primarily involves providing telephone support to the dedicated out-of-hours team for any inpatient queries, rather than routine on-site attendance. Flexible working requests will also be considered where possible.
We have a large and highly skilled team of veterinary professionals including Diplomates and Certificate holders across surgery and internal medicine, supported by around 45 nurses, dedicated night nurses, 6 hospital clinicians, and an experienced client care team.
The hospital is fully equipped with advanced facilities including:
- 128-slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI
- Dedicated soft tissue and orthopaedic theatres
- Full endoscopy suite
- Digital radiography and ultrasonography
- Fully stocked in-house laboratory
- Large intensive care facility with 24/7 veterinary and nursing supervision
We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional clinical standards and customer service, while fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment with a strong team ethos.
