Composite Quality Inspector

Portsmouth, Hampshire

Full-time | Permanent / Contract options available

We're supporting a well-established composite manufacturing business in Portsmouth that produces high-quality components for demanding engineering sectors. Due to continued growth, they're now looking to add an experienced Composite Quality Inspector to their quality team.

This role would suit someone with a strong eye for detail, solid composites knowledge, and confidence working to aerospace-level quality standards.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for ensuring all composite parts meet required specifications and quality standards, carrying out both in-process and final inspections.

  • Performing in-process and final inspection of composite parts, sub-assemblies and finished products
  • Identifying defects such as delamination, fibre misalignment, voids, surface imperfections and bonding issues
  • Using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM and laser tracking systems
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, ply books and specifications, including GD&T requirements
  • Verifying compliance with manufacturing processes, work instructions and quality standards (AS9100 / ISO 9001)
  • Completing inspection documentation, NCRs and quality reports within QMS systems
  • Working closely with production and engineering teams to investigate and resolve quality issues
  • Supporting First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP activities and internal/external audits
About You

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • 2+ years' experience in a composite quality inspection role
  • Good understanding of composite manufacturing processes such as hand lay-up, resin infusion, RTM and autoclave
  • Experience working to aerospace or high-spec quality standards (AS9102, NADCAP, ISO)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience using inspection software such as Poly Works and quality documentation systems
  • A methodical, detail-driven approach with strong communication and problem-solving skills

If you’re a Quality Inspector with composites experience and you’re looking for a stable role within a busy Portsmouth-based manufacturer, this is a great opportunity to join a growing team producing high-quality work.
