We are currently recruiting a Project Assurance Business Partner to join our team on a temporary basis, expected to last 6-12 months. The role has been created to help address the current backlog of project assurance audits across the business. You'll be based in our recently relocated Leeds office, just a short walk from Leeds train station. This is a hybrid role where you can work up to two days a week from home if you wish.

Please note applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role.

As our Project Assurance Business Partner, you will take a hands‑on role in planning and delivering project assurance audits across the business, with an immediate focus on reducing the current audit backlog. You will identify findings and improvement opportunities, produce clear audit outcomes, and, once the backlog has been reduced, work with project and division teams to ensure corrective actions are implemented and recurring issues are reduced.

In this role you’ll be responsible for helping to ensure that projects are established, governed, and delivered in line with the Sweco Project Management Framework, contractual requirements, quality expectations and ISO 9001 principles.

The role also supports the development of a more connected digital assurance model, reducing manual checking where appropriate and increasing the use of data reporting, and system insight to strengthen assurance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering project assurance reviews and audits across a portfolio of projects.
  • Assessing compliance with project governance, controls, contractual requirements, quality expectations, and agreed processes through audit activities.
  • Reviewing whether projects are being established and delivered in line with the Sweco Project Management Framework and ISO 9001 principles.
  • Identifying findings, risks and areas for improvement, and making practical recommendations to support stronger project delivery and reduced recurrence of issues.
  • Producing clear assurance reports and communicating outcomes to relevant stakeholders in a timely and practical way.
  • Working with project and division teams to agree and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Monitoring recurring issues and supporting actions to reduce repeat findings.
  • Supporting the development of a more connected digital assurance approach, using data, reporting, and system-based insight to improve oversight and reduce reliance on manual checking where appropriate.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve assurance efficiency and effectiveness through better use of digital tools, reporting, and trend analysis along with practical lessons learned from audit findings.
  • Providing constructive challenge and guidance to support improved project delivery.
  • Contributing to the development of assurance processes, tools, and reporting.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in planning, conducting and reporting audits is essential. Experience in project assurance, governance, risk, controls and ISO 9001 principles.
  • Confidence in providing constructive challenge.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, assurance processes and quality management principles, with the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Experience of digital, data‑led, or system‑enabled assurance approaches.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to work within, the Sweco Project Management Framework, contractual requirements and project delivery.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and identify trends, themes, and areas of risk.
  • Ability to influence, challenge and build effective working relationships with stakeholders in a constructive manner.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
