Catering Assistant​/Commis Chef

Job Summary

We are looking to add to our great catering team to work across various sites within the trust. The role will be 15 hours per week, working a range of shifts from 06:00 to 19:00, 5 days over 7 (including weekends). The role will be based at the Catering Prestwich unit, but you will be required to support other units.

• Work as a great team player in our kitchens and service points, assisting the teams in delivering a fantastic food service to our service users.
• Perform basic kitchen duties and assist in food service to patients and other meals or functions.
• Clean crockery, pots and pans using an industrial dishwashing machine and manually wash as required.
• Prepare hot and cold food items and serve them to patients and other service users.
• Adhere to safe working practices in all aspects of hygiene management and risk management.
• Carry out general and specialised cleaning tasks in accordance with Trust procedures.
• Undertake mandatory training in COSHH, HACCP and comply with all Trust policies relevant to the post, particularly with regard to the food hygiene policy.
• Load ovens and food trolleys.
• Stand, move and lift goods and food; be capable of such duties.

• Have or be able to gain at least a Level 2 food hygiene level of knowledge.
• Be a great communicator and able to think on your feet.
• Be a team player.
• Be capable of standing, moving and lifting as required.

  This role is not eligible for sponsorship unless you meet criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. Separate provisions apply to workers who have been sponsored and held continuously on a Skilled Worker visa since prior to 04/04/2024.
