Key Account Manager – Anti-Infectives | Secondary Care | North West, Yorkshire & (Half) of East Midlands

I’m currently supporting a growing specialty pharmaceutical company that is looking to appoint a Key Account Manager to join their UK team and take ownership of a defined hospital territory.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a smaller, agile pharmaceutical business where you’ll have genuine ownership of your region, work closely with senior stakeholders, and play a key role in driving the success of established and upcoming products.

Working model: Field-based (hospital-focused)

The Opportunity:

You will be responsible for developing relationships across secondary care, working with specialist healthcare professionals, and supporting the growth of products within anti-infectives and pain management
.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with hospital stakeholders and Key Opinion Leaders
  • Driving product adoption across NHS secondary care accounts
  • Supporting new product launches and identifying growth opportunities
  • Engaging with specialist physicians, microbiology teams, and relevant clinical stakeholders
  • Developing and executing territory business plans
  • Attending national/international conferences and maintaining strong market knowledge
About You:

We are looking for someone who can combine scientific credibility with strong commercial capability.

Ideal backgrounds include:
  • Key Account Management experience within secondary care
  • Hospital sales experience within complex pharmaceutical products
  • Experience in anti-infectives, infectious diseases, microbiology, pain management, renal, neurology, or acute medicine (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of NHS hospital environments and formulary processes
  • Ability to manage a large territory and build long-term stakeholder relationships

You may come from a KAM, Hospital Specialist Representative, or Clinical Sales background - the key is having experience operating in a complex hospital environment and the ability to work autonomously.

Personality fit:

This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment where you can make an impact. You’ll need to be:

  • Adaptable and comfortable wearing different hats
  • Self-motivated and solution-focused
  • Relationship-driven with a long-term approach
  • Comfortable working independently in a field-based role

Ideal locations include Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, or anywhere within the territory (excluding the South Midlands region).
