Business Development Manager required for a reputable engineering & manufacturing company, employing over 500 staff across the world. This long-established organisation supplies a variety of industries with complex flow control products, including Valves, Pumps and Actuators.
This organisation recently decided to make significant investment (worth circa £1.8m) into their Leeds site, which will include a full overhaul of the workspace and facilities. Due to continued demand for their versatile product range, this organisation is recruiting for several positions including a Business Development Manager.
This opportunity is open to full time REMOTE candidates, meaning the successful Business Development Manager can be located anywhere within the UK.
Key Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager will include;- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities within targeted industrial sectors, supporting the company's strategic growth objectives.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective customers through market mapping, research, and proactive business development activities.
- Generate and convert RFQs into profitable orders by delivering compelling commercial proposals and negotiating successful agreements.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers across complex customer organisations.
- Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and networking forums to enhance brand visibility and uncover new opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Development, Marketing, and Service teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into effective solutions.
- Gather and communicate customer feedback, identify post-sales growth opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement of products, services, and market strategy.
- A proven background in industrial B2B sales, with experience developing new markets, winning complex opportunities, and delivering measurable business growth.
- Experience with in engineering-led sectors such as hydraulics, cooling systems, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, gas technologies, or similar industrial environments.
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to translate complex products, systems, and solutions into clear commercial value for customers.
- Commercial acumen, including experience with pricing strategies, margin management, contract negotiation, and developing compelling return-on-investment business cases.
- A strategic approach to business development, with the ability to identify market trends, uncover new opportunities, and use customer insights to drive growth initiatives.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams and procurement professionals through to senior decision-makers.
- A resilient, adaptable, and self-motivated approach, with the determination to succeed in evolving markets and manage long and complex sales cycles effectively.
- £500 per month Car Allowance
- Annual Profit Share/ Commission
- 30 Days annual leave + 1 Day extra each year (3 years)
- 8% Combined pension (3% employer/ 5% employee)
- Company Sick Pay after 12 months employment
