We’re looking for an apprentice ecologist to join our Sustainability and Biodiversity team in Leeds. You will work towards a Level 6 Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship at Harper Adams University
, gaining a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management and Sustainability.

• Shadow experienced ecologists and receive mentoring to build confidence in ecological survey methodologies.
• Collect, record and manage ecological data to professional standards.
• Work in both rural and urban areas across the UK.
• Support colleagues in preparing ecological reports, impact assessments and mitigation strategies for planning applications.
• Learn to interpret and apply UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and industry standards.
• Contribute to project meetings, survey design, project timelines and client requirements.
• Build transferable skills in teamwork, communication and problem solving.

• At least grade C in three A levels (or equivalent UCAS points) or a Level 3 Apprenticeship in construction or property‑related discipline.
• GCSE English and Maths (A*–C or 9–4) or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one during the apprenticeship.
• Permanent right to work in the UK.
• Interest in ecology and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home for fieldwork.
• Willingness to take ownership of work and learn from experience.
• Flexibility to work unsociable hours (early mornings, evenings).
• Clear communication skills and willingness to develop writing and speaking skills.
