DescriptionAbout the role:
As a Facilities Operative (General Maintenance) you’ll be a key part of keeping our buildings operational, safe and well-maintained. With a trade background, you’ll handle day to day repairs, preventative maintenance and small projects, working with your colleagues and external contractors when needed.
In your first few weeks you’ll get to know our buildings, systems and safety processes. You’ll understand our planned maintenance schedules, and familiarise yourself with our reporting and sign off procedures.
Driving Excellence…Beyond the basics, you’ll look for ways to improve how we maintain our sites, suggesting better materials, more efficient fixes, or smarter preventative routines. You’ll support wider projects (like office moves or refurbishments) and champion a safe, well‑maintained environment for everyone.
Key Goals & Objectives:- Deliver high‑quality, timely maintenance and repairs across plumbing, electrics and general facilities.
- Reduce downtime by proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Carry out general maintenance including plumbing repairs (leaks, blockages, pipework) and basic electrical work (fault finding, replacing fittings, minor installations).
- Complete routine inspections and planned preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Work with contractors for larger projects or specialised tasks, ensuring compliance with health & safety standards.
- Keep tools, materials and work spaces well organised and secure.
- Proven hands‑on experience in a trade environment (plumbing and/or electrical).
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common building services issues efficiently.
- Understanding of health & safety practices and safe systems of work.
- Self‑motivated, reliable and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and contractors.
