About the Role

Leeds City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Children's Social Work Team Manager to lead a busy Child Protection (CP) area team based at Morley Town Hall.

This is a key leadership role requiring a confident and competent manager who can oversee cases from referral through to permanence, ensuring children and families receive high-quality, timely, and outcome-focused interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a busy Children's Social Work team within Child Protection services.
Oversee and provide management oversight from:
Referral
Assessment & Child in Need
Strategy Discussions
Section 47 enquiries
Child Protection processes
Pre-Proceedings
Court Proceedings
Permanence planning, including Adoption
Ensure practice aligns with Leeds City Council's restorative and family-led approach.
Provide strong leadership to influence and develop positive team culture.
Deliver high-quality, outcome-focused supervision and case decision-making.
Monitor performance, quality assure work, and drive continuous improvement.
Manage staff welfare, performance, and HR matters effectively.
Support safety planning and case progression, with flexibility to see cases through when required.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience as a Team Manager within Children's Social Work, particularly in Child Protection.
Demonstrable competence in managing complex cases across the full social care pathway from referral to permanence.
Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks, court processes, and safeguarding legislation.
Experience in managing performance, supporting professional development, and addressing HR matters.
Ability to lead under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of practice.

Essential Requirements:

* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent

* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services

* Social Work England Registration

* Driving license and access to own vehicle
