Resident Project Support Worker (Housing)
Refugees and asylum seekers
Leeds & Bradford
Salary: £14.13 per hour, 37 hours per week
Hours:
Full-time - Includes weekend on-call rota (additional payment + TOIL)
This Housing charity is seeking a compassionate and practical Housing Project Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting refugees and asylum seekers who are at risk of homelessness.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals, promoting independence, and helping people move forward into stable housing and life in the community.
About the Role
As a Resident Project Support Worker, you will work closely with colleagues to provide practical and emotional support to residents living in supported accommodation.
You will support individuals who may have recently received refugee status or are navigating ongoing immigration processes, helping them access housing, benefits, community services and opportunities that promote independence and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting residents living in supported accommodation with their day-to-day wellbeing and independence
Completing support plans, risk assessments and regular support reviews
Providing casework support and maintaining accurate case notes
Assisting residents with benefit claims, including Housing Benefit
Supporting residents with move-on options, including social housing and private rented accommodation
Assisting residents with bidding for properties and housing applications
Supporting residents to access health, wellbeing, education and community services
Working with referral agencies and partner organisations
Supporting the delivery of weekly drop-in sessions
Organising and supporting house meetings and resident engagement activities
Helping residents with integration support, including community activities and volunteering
Maintaining accurate records relating to support sessions, payments and resident outcomes
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Compassionate, patient and committed to supporting vulnerable individuals
Confident in building professional relationships and maintaining boundaries
Able to manage sensitive situations and difficult conversations
Organised with strong record-keeping and case management skills
Able to work independently as well as part of a small team
Passionate about supporting people to move forward into independence
Experience in the following would be highly beneficial:
Supporting refugees, asylum seekers or vulnerable adults
Knowledge of the UK welfare benefits system and Housing Benefit
Experience supporting individuals with housing applications and move-on planning
Delivering support planning or casework support
