Leeds Beckett University is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and student-focused Residence Life Advisor to join our Residence Life Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in creating safe, inclusive and vibrant residential communities while supporting students through some of the most important stages of their university experience.

About

The Role

As a Residence Life Advisor, you will be at the heart of student life within our residences, providing welfare and pastoral support, managing conduct issues, and delivering initiatives that enhance the student experience.

Working across our student residences and reporting to the Residence Life Coordinator, you will support students as they transition to university life and independent living. As a visible and approachable member of the team, you will often be the first point of contact for residents, helping them navigate challenges, access support and get the most from their time at Leeds Beckett.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with colleagues across the University, including Student Services and Academic Schools, as well as our accommodation partners, to help create safe, supportive and welcoming residential communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing welfare and pastoral support to students living in residence.
  • Advising and supporting residents experiencing personal, wellbeing or accommodation-related challenges.
  • Managing student conduct cases, including investigations, interviews and report writing.
  • Maintaining accurate records relating to welfare concerns, incidents and conduct matters.
  • Building positive relationships with key University stakeholders and accommodation partners.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of events and activities that encourage community engagement and enhance the resident experience.
  • Participating in the Accommodation On-Call rota, providing out-of-hours support to residents.
About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about student support and committed to creating positive student communities.

  • Experience of supporting young people, students or customers in a professional environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Confidence in handling sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy and sound judgement.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
  • A genuine commitment to student wellbeing, success and inclusion.

Experience with in Higher Education, accommodation, student services, welfare or community-based support environments would be advantageous.
