Leeds City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join its dedicated Children in Care (CIC) Team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and established service committed to improving outcomes for children and young people in care.
As a Senior Social Worker within the CIC Team, you will hold responsibility for managing a caseload of children and young people in care, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes remain at the heart of your practice.
You will work collaboratively with children, families, carers, partner agencies, and professionals to deliver high-quality, child-centred services while providing guidance and support to colleagues within the team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of children and young people subject to care proceedings and care plans.
- Undertake assessments, care planning, and statutory visits.
- Prepare high-quality reports for court, reviews, and other statutory meetings.
- Work in partnership with foster carers, residential settings, schools, health professionals, and other agencies.
- Ensure all recording and case management systems are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.
- Promote positive outcomes for children in care, supporting permanence planning and pathway planning where appropriate.
- Support and mentor less experienced social workers within the team.
- Social Work England Registration.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
- Significant experience working within Childrens Services.
- Previous experience working within a Children in Care (CIC) / Looked After Children Team.
- Strong assessment, report writing, and court work experience.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced local authority environment.
- £35 per hour
- Hybrid working arrangement
