Hours: 30 hours per week total (10 Hours Safe Accommodation Partner and 20 hours CYPVA)

Children & Young Peoples Violence Advocate (CYPVA)
Purpose
The overall purpose of this role is to engage children and young people (CYP) at risk of harm due to domestic abuse, to carry out appropriate assessments, including DASH RIC and referral to MARAC and/or safeguarding when indicated. The skilled and experienced post holder will design, with CYP, one to one sessions as required, in community or accommodation-based settings and work with other SIDAS teams to provide a holistic and joined up response.
Additionally, this role will engage with others in the community and in education provision, in order to raise awareness and develop and deliver education programmes. You will work with other agencies to develop safety plans, and specific face to face interventions for those experiencing intimate teen violence, including young instigators and survivors.
Person Specification
Essential evidence required against which short listing will take place and to be tested at assessment centre and interview.
NNEB, Diploma/Degree or NVQ 5 in working with children and young people
or
equivalent work level experienceRecognised national qualification in working with children affected by domestic violence and abuse or willingness to undertake within 1 year of post
In depth experience of working with children affected by domestic violence and abuse
In depth understanding of the issues affecting children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse
Understanding and commitment to diversity and inclusion responsibilities
Knowledge of Safeguarding issues and processes
Knowledge of group work
Knowledge of child and adolescence development
Knowledge of legislation affecting children
Experience of safeguarding best practice for children
Experience of involving children and young people in how services run
Skilled at IT, including Microsoft Office packages and ability to keep records and write reports
Ability to relate well with children and young people and respond positively to challenging behaviour
Ability to communicate effectively with women and children in distress
Ability to develop and deliver specific group work or individual interventions for children and young people
Ability to self-reflect and willing to participate in development programmes to maintain knowledge and skills required
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and on call as required
Ability to work across the county and travel to other Trust locations when necessary
Safe Accommodation Partner
Purpose
The PARAGON Safe Accommodation Team offers practical and emotional support to adults and/or children who are fleeing domestic violence and abuse and require accommodation across the county. Working as part of a wider team you will focus on domestic abuse support and housing related tasks, helping each person to maintain their accommodation, and provide innovative and personalised dedicated recovery focused interventions.
