Full Stack Developer, Software Engineer, Cloud Engineer - Software
Location: Leeds (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)
Gravitas is partnered with a leading organisation within the energy and sustainability sector, seeking a Junior Software Developer to join their growing Applications Development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer who wants to work across modern Microsoft technologies, cloud‑native architecture and end‑to‑end software delivery.
You’ll work on a broad mix of internal and customer‑facing applications, ranging from bespoke builds to integrations with key commercial systems such as Billing, Finance and CRM. The environment is highly collaborative, with strong engineering standards, an emphasis on secure development, and opportunities to influence design, tooling and development practices.
What You’ll Be Doing- Designing, coding, testing and maintaining high‑quality software across front‑end and back‑end applications.
- Contributing to detailed technical designs, modelling, documentation and solution decision‑making.
- Applying secure, scalable and maintainable development practices across the full application lifecycle.
- Supporting integration work, cloud‑based solutions (Azure/AWS), serverless components and Function Apps.
- Participating in peer reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, governance and best practice.
- Estimating development effort, planning your own workload and delivering to agreed timelines.
- Supporting incident and problem resolution, including root‑cause analysis and application maintenance.
- Contributing to build, deployment and release activities, including CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops processes.
- Working across varied applications and technologies, with the ability to multitask in non‑routine scenarios.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across Analysis, Testing, Cloud, Support, Architecture and wider business teams.
- Knowledge of software design principles, modelling, and structured development techniques.
- Experience with Azure and/or AWS, including serverless and integration solutions.
- Understanding of SQL Server and document databases such as Cosmos
DB or Mongo
DB. - Experience across the full SDLC, including Waterfall and Agile/SCRUM delivery.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Azure Dev Ops, Git repositories, Jira/Confluence and automated testing.
- Experience consuming and implementing APIs, web services and message‑queue integrations.
- Ability to diagnose complex issues, resolve incidents, and support production environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with in the energy or utilities sector.
- UX awareness and familiarity with front‑end frameworks (e.g., Angular, Bootstrap).
- Relevant Microsoft or cloud certifications.
- Experience mentoring colleagues or supporting knowledge‑sharing.
