Our client is a global leader in enterprise digital and cloud transformation, operating across 40 countries. They are currently expanding a dedicated UK division focused specifically on transforming technology within the Public Sector and NHS England
.
We're looking for a Full Stack Developer to join a team working on NHS England programmes. You'll work across the stack - Python on the backend, Vue.js on the front end, and AWS throughout. You'll be part of an Agile delivery team, working alongside other developers, testers and delivery managers.
This is a senior role. We need someone who can pick up complex work, get on with it, and help less experienced colleagues along the way.
Public sector experience is desirable. If you've worked in or around NHS Digital before, that's worth highlighting. If not, we'd still like to hear from you.
Role OverviewYou will split your time between building robust backend Python services and crafting intuitive front-end interfaces. You will operate within Agile delivery teams, working directly on high-profile client programmes.
Key Responsibilities- Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python
. - Front-end Development: Develop responsive, component-driven front-end applications using Vue.js (experience with React is transferable, though Vue is preferred for current roadmaps).
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Work natively within AWS environments; understand how to deploy and debug serverless or containerised applications.
- Dev Ops & CI/CD: Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines (ideally Git Lab), ensuring high code quality and automated testing.
- Agile Delivery: Actively participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and stand-ups. This is a collaborative role, not a solo coding function.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Translate technical complexities for non-technical stakeholders, maintaining the high professional standards required for Public Sector frameworks.
- Python: Significant, demonstrable experience developing production-grade backend systems. You should be comfortable with API frameworks and asynchronous programming.
- Cloud (AWS): Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications within AWS (Lambda, ECS, Fargate, or similar).
- Dev Ops Mindset: Experience working with CI/CD tooling (Git Lab CI, Jenkins, Git Hub Actions). We need engineers who care about what happens after they merge.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You will be client-facing and representing a global brand in the UK health sector.
- Public Sector Delivery: Experience working within UK Government Digital Service (GDS) standards or similar public sector frameworks.
- NHS England: Specific experience working with NHS Digital, NHS Trusts, or Health Tech vendors is highly desirable.
- Enterprise Patterns: Experience with event-driven architectures or complex legacy system modernisation.
