Software Engineer, Backend Developer, Full Stack Developer

Job Description

Grant Thornton UK LLP is hiring Software Engineers and Senior Engineers in the North of England. You will be an individual contributor driving the development of our Generative AI platform.

• Work within a forward‑deployed engineering team or a delivery pod aligned to one of our service lines.
• Collaborate with product managers and lead engineers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Design and implement backend plumbing, API integrations, MCP server builds, and data connections around the GenAI platform.
• Apply engineering judgement to solve problems natively within the platform or via bespoke engineering when needed.
• Own the quality of your output, raise blockers early, and build depth and judgement as your experience grows.

• Senior Engineer:
  Proven track record of owning delivery end‑to‑end, shipping production software, deep experience in backend and integration engineering using Python or C# .Net, and judgement on native vs bespoke solutions.
• Engineer:
  Demonstrable experience building and shipping production software, solid foundations in at least one backend language, understanding of APIs and version control, and a sense of ownership.
• Both levels:
  Familiarity with Azure and Microsoft 365 is an advantage; hands‑on experience with LLM integration patterns, MCP tooling, and AI‑enabled or agentic development environments is valued.
• Experience with GenAI tools such as Copilot, Claude, or ChatGPT.
