Overview
Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG) is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. This role will sit in either our Runtime/Compute or the Developer Experience/CICD squad. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will work across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, and internal developer tooling. You will work closely with Product Engineering, Security, Infrastructure IT, and other platform teams to build, enhance, and support our developer platform.
You will help define standards and best practices, and act as a force multiplier for engineering teams by improving reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.
- Own and deliver medium-to-large platform projects from implementation through production
- Build and maintain internal platform services and tooling that improve developer experience and delivery velocity
- Partner with application teams to unblock delivery and align platform capabilities with developer needs
- Drive cloud cost efficiency and optimization across our cloud and infrastructure
- Improve operational excellence through observability, automation, and incident response
- Help evolve CI/CD pipelines and Git Ops-based workflows
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
- 5–7 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, Dev Ops, or software engineering
- Proficiency with Python and Java. Familiarity with Kotlin, Go a plus
- Deep Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge
- Proven CI/CD and Git Ops experience
- Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform)
- Strong AWS and cloud-native experience
- Experience operating distributed, high‑availability systems
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to deliver defined projects independently
- Clear communication and strong collaboration skills
- Experience with internal developer platforms or tooling
- Exposure to regulated or high‑availability environments
- Backend development experience (Java, Python, Go, or similar)
- Familiarity with observability and reliability engineering practices
£96,000 – £120,000 (London). Salary is determined by location and may vary based on geography.
Working Across RegionsThis role operates in a globally distributed environment, working closely with teams across the UK, Ireland, and the United States. Strong communication, time‑zone coordination, and shared ownership are essential for success.
Travel ExpectationsPeriodic travel to the United States is expected for off‑sites, planning sessions, and collaboration. Occasional travel within the UK and Ireland may also be required.
