About the Role
As Panda continues to grow and expand its operations, we’re strengthening our Transport team and are looking for an experienced Traffic Planner to support our busy Skip and Ro Ro fleet.
This is a key operational role at the heart of the business. You’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating daily vehicle movements, keeping drivers productive and compliant, and ensuring customers receive a reliable, high-quality service.
You’ll join the team at an exciting time, with real opportunity to influence how transport planning operates as the business continues to evolve. What You’ll Be DoingYou’ll take ownership of the day‑to‑day planning and coordination of Skip and RoRo operations, balancing efficiency, compliance, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Planning and coordinating daily Skip and RoRo deliveries, exchanges, and collections across assigned areas
- Optimising routes and workloads to maximise fleet and driver efficiency
- Managing driver availability and monitoring hours in line with legal and company requirements
- Communicating clearly with drivers throughout the day, providing instructions, updates, and support
- Liaising with customers to confirm bookings, provide ETAs, and resolve service issues
- Reacting quickly to last‑minute changes, breakdowns, or operational challenges
- Ensuring all jobs are accurately recorded in transport systems and internal records
- Working closely with internal teams such as weighbridge, sales, and accounts to ensure smooth service delivery
- Supporting transport compliance, safe working practices, and regulatory requirements
- Assisting with monitoring vehicle utilisation and operational performance
- Contributing ideas to improve planning processes, efficiency, and customer experience
We’re looking for someone who is organised, calm under pressure, and confident communicating with both drivers and customers.
Essential- Previous experience in a Traffic Planner or Transport Coordination role
- Strong understanding of skip and/or RoRo operations
- Knowledge of driver hours regulations and transport compliance
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a fast‑moving environment
- Confident communicator with a customer‑focused approach
- Good IT skills, including transport systems and Microsoft Office
- High attention to detail and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
- GCSE Maths and English
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with in waste management, logistics, or haulage environments
- Familiarity with working time directive requirements and compliance reporting
