Transport Planner

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner (Container Operations) with a strong background in containerised road transport and Port/Rail Terminal coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective container movements while delivering exceptional customer service and operational performance.

Monday to Friday | 10-hour shifts between 06:00 – 18:00 | Occasional weekend support (paid overtime)

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate container transport operations across Yorkshire.
Manage daily transport schedules for containerised freight.
Ensure compliance with transport regulations and operational procedures.
Book and manage Port and Rail Terminal VBS slots.
Liaise with drivers, depots, customers, ports, and rail terminals.
Optimise vehicle utilisation and route planning.
Monitor KPI performance and service levels.
Provide proactive customer service and manage client expectations.

Skills & Experience:

Proven experience as a Transport Planner within the container / haulage sector.
Strong working knowledge of container logistics, port operations, and rail terminals.
Experience using TOPPS (Container Transport System).

Experience with VBS (Vehicle Booking Systems).
Strong understanding of UK transport compliance and container movement regulations.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English).
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong IT skills with ability to adapt to new transport management systems (TMS).
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment
