Process Technologist

Location:

Ornua Foods, Sunnyhills road, Leek.

Salary:
Generous Salary based on experience.

Hours:

Monday to Friday 36.25 hours per week.

Job Overview

Ornua is Ireland’s largest exporter of Irish dairy products. The Process Technologist will take ownership of new products and product improvements, ensuring they are manufactured to food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze feasibility of proposed new products and processes.
  • Implement food safety legislation changes and updates.
  • Conduct risk assessments on new materials.
  • Ensure supplier quality and food safety compliance.
  • Analyze customer complaints and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain specification processes for new products.
  • Carry out shelf life testing and trials, analyse results.
  • Manage factory trials and coordinate data capture.
  • Develop Quality Attribute Sheets for all new products.
  • Manage trial/sample request process effectively.
  • Ensure trial records are filed and retrievable.
Key Requirements
  • Protect and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers and third parties.
  • Manage commercial sample and trial request process.
  • Complete factory trials and liaise with departments to ensure timely completion.
  • Collect, record and feed back trial data.
  • Use learnings to improve sample/trial processes.
  • Maintain trial records.
  • Experience in shelf life testing and quality perception improvement.
  • Ownership of technical aspects of new product launches.
  • Familiar with customer specification requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in chilled food manufacture.
  • Computer literate with good Microsoft skills.
  • HACCP trained.
  • Good written and oral communication.
  • Experience with retailer specification systems.
