Build Strong Projects—and Stronger Teams
Concrete Strategies is looking for a
Director of Construction to lead project execution.
This is a hands‑on operational leadership role for someone who knows construction, understands the numbers behind a successful project, and can help teams solve problems before they become larger issues. You’ll work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and field leaders to keep projects well‑planned, properly staffed, and moving in the right direction.
This position is focused on construction operations. Sales, estimating, business development, and overall Area P&L remain under the leadership of the Area Vice President.
What You’ll Lead Project Execution- Oversee construction activities across the assigned Area.
- Help teams plan and execute work safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.
- Provide guidance on constructability, sequencing, staffing, scheduling, production planning, cost control, and issue resolution.
- Step in with hands‑on leadership when complex, high‑risk, or challenged projects need additional support.
- Review cost projections, cost-to-complete forecasts, labor productivity, production performance, schedules, and margin trends.
- Identify potential cost exposure, negative production trends, and margin concerns early.
- Help project teams develop practical corrective‑action plans.
- Make sure teams understand how operational decisions affect project performance and profitability.
- Keep the Area Vice President informed of significant risks, financial concerns, and resource needs.
- Drive consistent use of company systems, project‑management tools, forecasting practices, and reporting processes.
- Use project data to identify early warning signs—not simply to complete an administrative requirement.
- Monitor cost, productivity, schedule, staffing, safety, quality, and overall project risk.
- Support weekly Project Health Meetings and ensure action items have clear owners, deadlines, and follow‑through.
- Lead, coach, and develop project‑management employees at multiple levels.
- Provide guidance on planning, scheduling, communication, documentation, cost management, subcontractor coordination, and client relationships.
- Identify performance gaps, training needs, staffing concerns, and development opportunities.
- Help build a strong succession pipeline for Area operations.
- Create a culture of ownership, accountability, communication, urgency, and continuous improvement.
- Help teams work through challenges involving production, staffing, schedules, costs, subcontractors, clients, safety, quality, and field execution.
- Support difficult project conversations and issue‑resolution meetings.
- Break complex problems into clear actions and practical solutions.
- Escalate significant risks with thoughtful recommendations—not just a list of problems.
- Share lessons learned across the Area to improve future project performance.
- Reinforce Concrete Strategies’ safety culture across every project.
- Partner with safety, quality, field, and project leadership to address trends and corrective actions.
- Ensure teams follow company standards, project specifications, and quality expectations.
- Promote disciplined planning, communication, documentation, and follow‑through to reduce preventable risk.
- Significant leadership experience in construction operations, concrete operations, field operations, project delivery, or a similar senior role.
- Experience…
